Tangent CP200 Setup
The color correction tools of FrameCycler DI, SpeedGrade HD, SpeedGrade XR and SpeedGrade DI 2007 can be controlled via the Tangent CP200 control panel series. This document describes how to connect the panels and explains which settings need to be changed for this setup. Supported are
- Tangent CP200 BK
- Tangent CP200 TS
- Tangent CP200 S
- Tangent CP200 K
A standard setup usually includes the CP200 BK and TS panel, for faster access to all secondary color correction features the CP200 K is highly recommended, the CP200 S can be added to get instant access to additional standard interface actions and previous / next grades.
You will need to have the following:
- Tangent CP200 panels with Firmware 4.4 or higher
- Tangent Power Adapter for each panel
- Ethernet cable to connect each panel to a HUB or SWITCH which is connected to your workstation
- Current version of FrameCycler DI, SpeedGrade HD, SpeedGrade XR or SpeedGrade DI which includes “Tangent” as menu item in the settings window (press < S > to check the settings dialog if you are unsure)
Connecting the CP200 BK, TS, K, S to your workstation
Before you can use the Tangent CP200 panels with your IRIDAS application make sure the Tangents are turned on and show Panel type, Firmware and ID in their Displays. Connect each Tangent with an Ethernet cable to a HUB or SWITCH, connect HUB or SWITCH to your workstation. If you run a workstation that uses several Ethernet ports we recommend using a dedicated Ethernet port for connecting the panels. For general connectivity requirements and further installation help please refer to the manual that comes with your CP200 panels.
Setting a fixed IP address for your network adapter (Windows)
Open the network connections (click Start > open the “Control Panel” > open “Network connections”). If there are multiple network connections check for Local Area Connection. If there are several Local area connections check which one becomes active when connecting the Tangents. Now double click on the correct Local Area Connection. Click on “Properties.” In the new window, check for TCPIP, double click to open. Make the changes shown in the illustration below:
Use a static IP address and subnet mask. You can leave all the other fields blank.
If this connection is set to use Windows Firewall, turn it off for this connection (check in Local Area Connection Properties under Advanced). If you use additional Firewall Software please make sure to set exceptions for this connection.
Setting a fixed IP address for your network adapter (OS X)
Open the network settings:
- Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen
- Choose "System Preferences"
- In the Internet & Network section click the "Network" icon
If there are multiple network connections check the active Ethernet connection. If there are several Ethernet connections check which one becomes active when physically connecting the Tangents. Click "Advanced.." and select the TCP/IP tab. Click on the Configure IPv4 drop down box and select "Manually". Make changes as shown below:
Confirm the changes by clicking "OK"
Changing the Tangent Settings within your IRIDAS application
Launch your IRIDAS application, open the settings dialog (click on the Settings button or push < S >).
Choose Tangent from the list to the left, then apply the following changes:
- Enter a Start IP Address. This needs to be in the same address range as the IP address used for your local area connection. If you use 192.168.0.50 for your computer enter 192.168.0.100 in this field.
- Enter a Subnet Mask. This has to be the same as the one used with your Local Area Connection.
- Enter the Panel ID for each panel separately. You’ll find the ID of your CP200 BK in the display of your panel in the first line to the right. It consists of 3 digits. Please repeat this for the TS and every other panel you want to use. The example below shows how to connect BK, TS and K.
- Push <ALT + F12> to connect the panels. You'll see the status of the connection in the area underneath the ID of each panel.
- It should now show Connected and the assigned IP address in brackets. Your CP200 BK should show SpeedGrade specific information in its display.
Troubleshooting
If the status of the panel is not connected, please go through the troubleshooting steps in your Tangent manual. You should also:
- Ensure that no firewall is used on this connection
- Check that your Ethernet cable is properly connected
- Double check your IP address and subnet mask entries.
