Overview
Stereo timelines allow you to work with stereoscopic material in the same way you work with single channel footage. If the folder structures are set up appropriately (see information about folder structures here), you can drag and drop a clips into a stereo timeline and the matching other eye is automatically found.
How to Set Up a Stereo Timeline
To designate a timeline as "stereo", simply activate the Stereo checkbox at the top left side of the timeline.
Now all clips dropped into the timeline are treated as stereo clips and the stereo features for left/right eye grading and stereoscopic pan and scan are enabled.
You can set the default for the Stereo checkbox by pressing <S> for settings, and browsing to the Editing tab of the settings dialog.
Note: If you do not see the Stereo checkbox or the default in the settings dialog, you are either using a Pre-2008 release of SpeedGrade or FrameCycler or your license doesn't support this feature. Please contact IRIDAS support in that case.
Converting from Stereoscopic to Non-Stereoscopic
To convert an existing stereoscopic timeline into an non-stereoscopic one, simply uncheck the Stereo checkbox. If you are already using stereoscopic clips and effects in your timeline, dialog box comes up which lets you choose whether to keep the left or the right eye clips and effects of your timeline.
If Your License Doesn't Support Stereo
If your license doesn't support stereo, the Stereo checkbox is not available and the stereo display and render options are unavailable.
If you receive a stereoscopic timeline from a stereo-enabled IRIDAS application, you can see the left eye clips and effects and render them. You can also disable stereo by unchecking the Stereo checkbox. In this case you can choose to keep the left or right eye clips and effects and the Stereo checkbox disappears afterwards.
