Redirect User Settings

From IRIDAS Online Documentation

Overview

The user settings, log files, license locations, preset files and other paths are usually relative to your IRIDAS product installation directory. For example, for FrameCycler on Windows, the user definable settings are stored in a file called User_Settings.xml, placed in

C:\Program Files\IRIDAS FrameCycler Professional\Settings

On Mac OS X, the location is inside the application package.

To redirect these paths to a different location, for example a location dependent on the logged on user, you can modify the file Global_Settings.xml, that is also located in the Settings subdirectory.

Modifying Global_Settings.xml

  • First locate Global_Settings.xml in your settings directory. On Mac OS X right click on the application icon in the finder, choose "Show Package Contents" and navigate to the settings directory.
  • Rename the file from _Global_Settings.xml to Global_Settings.xml (remove the underscore). The file is now going to be used by your IRIDAS application.
  • Now edit the contents of the file to match your preferences. You can use environment variables inside the paths to use different paths based on user name or project specific variables
