From IRIDAS Online Documentation

Overview
The Profile Editor allows you to generate encoding profiles (.iepf) to be used with MetaRender, SpeedGrade and FrameCycler.
Note: Encoding profiles for digital video formats (Quicktime, AVI) are not compatible across platforms.
Encoding profiles for QuickTime and AVI output must be generated on the same platform and with the same Codecs installed as the computer from which the sequences will be rendered.
How to Launch the Profile Editor
The Profile Editor can be launched as a standalone application from the bin folder in your IRIDAS application. With FrameCycler and SpeedGrade the Profile Editor can also be launched via the Render dialog.
About Encoding Profiles
Encoding profiles are small XML files that contain the output file type and all of the configuration options which that file format offers. The file format for encoding profiles is .iepf
For frame sequences the Profile Editor offers the various available formats, frame numbering, and padding options.
For movie sequences the CODEC quality settings are encapsulated in the encoding profile.
The encoded profiles are XML-based so they can also be generated automatically by a script.
How to Encode Profiles
To generate an encoding profile, select the desired format at the top of the dialog and set all format-specific options.
After you have chosen the settings you want, click on the Save Profile button.
How to Use Encoding Profiles
To use the encoding profile for MetaRender, simply specify it on the MetaRender command line.
To use the encoding profile for FrameCycler or SpeedGrade, open the application, select the material you’d like to render, click Render, use the Load Profile button and start the render process.
You can open and edit an existing profile at any time with the Load Profile button.
