OVERVIEW: 3D Stereo Displays
From IRIDAS Online Documentation
All IRIDAS 2009 applications support a wide range of 3D Stereo Displays. Depending on your needs you can choose between systems that are driven by only one DVI/HDMI output and systems that use either both DVI outputs or the nVidia SDI output for DualStream 422 output.
A. Systems with one DVI / HDMI input
All systems in this category allow for using a second display to separate the GUI from the stereo screen
- JVC 46"(line-by-line, circular polarized glasses)
- Samsung 3D DLP (TI-pattern, active shutter glasses)
- Mitsubishi 3D DLP (TI-pattern, active shutter glasses)
B. Systems using 2 DVIinputs
Systems in this category use both outputs on the nVidia QuadroFX card. The user interface will always appear on top of the stereo output, we recommend to use this kind of setup for presentation only or to switch to a Dual SDI setup like in C., but with 2 converters from SDI back to DVI. This enables one DVI output to carry the GUI only.
- Miracube 3D Display (2 screens / mirror setup, polarized glasses)
- Generic Dual Projection Setup (polarization filters and silver screen, polarized glassed)
C. Systems using 2 SDI inputs
This setup requires the nVidia QuadroFX 5800 SDI and either FrameCycler DDS / DI or SpeedGrade XR / DI.
The DVI output on the 5800 can be used to drive a GUI display. The SDI signal can be split and sent to a reference grade monitor before sending it to any of the Stereo SDI capable systems with DualStream 422 (left and right eye are locked, two BNC outputs carry one discrete stereo channel each).
- D-Cinema capable projectors with RealD Z-Screen or Dolby 3D
- Generic Dual Projection Setup with SDI inputs (polarization filters and silver screen, polarized glassed)
