FAQ: MetaRender

From IRIDAS Online Documentation

Jump to: navigation, search

Does MetaRender require a specific GPU?

No. MetaRender works entirely CPU based by default. You can switch to GPU processing if required, usually the performance of a current multi-core workstation is on par with GPU render performance.

If several nodes are implemented, does MetaRender take a frame sequence and send out each frame to an available node to render simultaneously (or does it just send the clip to an available node)?

MetaRender UI will send a render job to an available node.

Can the render node be used with existing render farm management software?

Each node can be used via full command line access. Therefore it's possible to use a node in conjunction with applications such as Rush or Qube.

If the original clip does not have embedded time code, will MetaRender create time code and embed in the header?

MetaRender allows for using source time code if present. If not present, timeline time code based on the clip position in the .ircp format can be used instead. This can be used to remaster data, creating digital lab reels. Please refer to the documentation on how to create proxies.
