Exporting LUTs (v2008)

Overview

SpeedGrade OnSet 2008 allows for exporting LUTs. You can use this feature to export a look you just designed with SpeedGrade OnSet or to convert existing .look files to LUTs. SpeedGrade OnSet can export 1D and 3D LUTs.

Available LUT formats

You can export .looks into a variety of LUT formats so that they can be used in other applications or hardware:

• S.two LUT (1D)
• BlackMagic Gamma Table (1D)
• Clipster LUT (1D)
• Sony SRW LUT (1D)
• Filmlight Truelight LUT (1D/3D)
• Thomson LUTher Box LUT (3D)
• 3DL (3D)

Note: if you use operations that require a 3D LUT you can't export to 1D LUT formats. To restrict SpeedGrade OnSet to 1D LUT compatible operations switch the main grading interface from "Full (3D)" to "Simple (1D)" mode.

Using the Export Feature

1. Select the .Look you want to export in the main interface
2. Click on the Export button.
3. Check off the LUT format(s) you want to export to in the dialog box. Once you have made your selection(s), click on the dialog box Export button.
   Note: Some of the LUT formats are grayed out. Which ones depends whether you selected 1D or 3D LUTs when you started to make the .Look
4. Choose a location for the new LUT (i.e. save it to your desktop, a USB memory stick etc.). Click this export button.
5. SpeedGrade OnSet automatically generates a Zip file containing the LUT (or LUTs). This file can now be loaded in another system to apply your creative look.
