Evaluating FrameCycler DDS

Overview

FrameCycler DDS offers robust direct from disk playback and analysis of frame sequences, RAW files and Quicktime/AVI files on LINUX, Windows and Mac OS X workstations. FrameCycler DDS features EDL conform, native stereosopic 3D timelines, editing functionality and multiple playheads for version and shot comparisons. Support for a broad variety of 3D LUT formats, including HDR floating point LUTs, allow for precise calibration and making creative color decisions.

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Windows XP (32 and 64 bit)
  • OS X 10.5. and 10.6
  • CentOS 5.3
  • Fedora Core8 (32 and 64 bit)


Hardware requirements

FrameCycler DDS runs best on nVidia QuadroFX graphics card. For best performance the QuadroFX 3800 is recommended. Most RAW formats require the QuadroFX 4800 or 5800 for real-time playback. Please use a certified driver to ensure best performance and reliability. ATI cards are not recommended. Other than that you'll need:

  • DualCore CPU
  • 6 GB RAM
  • Fast RAID subsystem or SAN (specs will vary according to your workflow needs, please check with our support team)
  • Dedicated ASIO 2.0 or Directsound sound card (if working with sound is part of your workflow)


The best standard configuration for a workstation is the HP Z800 with 1x 2.8 Ghz processor.

Installation

Please get the installers and an evaluation license from your local reseller.
Please read the installation notes before running the installer.


The most important Hotkeys

  • D: shows / hides the Desktop
  • TAB: shows / hides the main interface
  • SHIFT + S: shows / hides the grading panel
  • F: toggles the fullscreen mode
  • CTRL + Home: Zoom to fit
  • CTRL + SHIFT + Home: Zoom to 100%
  • Space: Play / Stop
