Create Proxies from Reels (HowTo)
From IRIDAS Online Documentation
Contents |
Step 1: Add Reels to Timeline
- In any FrameCycler application or SpeedGrade XR / DI use the desktop, browse to the directory containing your reel clips.
- If the clips are in subdirectories, choose "Sequences from folder + subtree" in the dropdown.
- Make sure you see only the clips you want to add and no other files in the browser. If you need to filter, use the filter edit control to enter a filtering criterion such as *.dpx or fullres*.mov
- Click on the "Add All" button
- Alternatively double click on each clip you want to add
Step 2: Color Correct/Adjust (FrameCycler DI, SpeedGrade XR / DI)
- Use clip-by-clip grading to adjust each clip
- Alternatively use Overall Grading to apply universal corrections such as LUTs
Step 3a: Render (interactive)
- Press CTRL+R to open the render dialog
- Browse to the directory you want to render to
- Optionally choose a proxy resolution from the drop down
- Optionally choose a burn-in template from the drop down
- Specify an output file name that uses the ReelID as part of its file name:
{Src.ReelID}\{Src.PathElement.0}.mov

Step 3b: Render (MetaRender)
- In SpeedGrade/FrameCycler save the timeline to an IRCP file (in our example X:\Timeline.ircp)
- Choose the right output codec/frame format and click on the Save Profile button. Save the profile to a file that you will specify at the MetaRender command line (in our example X:\Quicktime.iepf)
- Open a command prompt and change to the directory where MetaRender is installed
- Specify a command line similar to the following
MetaRender X:\{Src.ReelID}.mov X:\Quicktime.iepf X:\Timeline.ircp -timecode=src.timecode
This will render the clips in the current timeline to files named ReelID.mov
